Refrigeration Module

The Refrigeration Module replaces the lid on the MCH-1000(i) with an enclosed condensing unit that generates a block of ice in the tank. With room-temperature water in the tank, the Refrigeration Module will chill the water to 3°C in about one hour, and begin to make ice in about 1.5 hours.

The Refrigeration Module is supplied with a 9-gallon plastic tank, which should be used to support the Refrigeration Module for storage, or when cleaning the MCH tank during the Quarterly maintenance procedure. The tank can be stored with the factory lid from the MCH-1000(i).

CardioPlegia Shared Channel Module

CardioQuip experience and research indicate that most perfusionists deliver cold cardioplegia with a “warm shot” at the end of the procedure. We’ve seen some rather ingenious ways to accomplish this with standard single-channel cooler-heaters, but all were labor-intensive and error-prone. Most perfusionists prefer a dual-channel unit if they can get it, but those designs have their own issues.

CardioQuip developed the dual-shared channel concept to add useful functionality to the MCH-1000(i) without dual-channel drawbacks. With a dual-shared channel arrangement, the main water circuit delivers fully temperature-controlled water, and the secondary circuit can be toggled between cold water (directly from the ice tank) and the main circuit.

The MCH’s Adaptive Temperature Control minimizes the need for the main circuit to pull cold water from the tank, stabilizing the tank temperature. Because the main circuit is typically warmer than the tank, even during circulatory arrest cases, it serves as a “warm shot” for the secondary circuit. During rewarm, both channels share the heaters, so the MCH’s full 1600 Watt heating capacity can be delivered to both circuits at once.

The secondary circuit is a perfect complement to the Quest MPS™, increasing the cooling capacity of that system.
